Tomatoes

See the varieties we may be growing this year!

  • Cherry Tomatoes
    • How to store: Never store tomatoes in the fridge (unless they are cut)—it’s a sure way to destroy their delicate flavors & textures. Instead, keep on the counter & eat soon.
  • Green (Unripe) Tomatoes
    • How to store: Keep on your counter until you’re ready to use them. They may ripen over time. You can also use them to make the classic Southern delicacy, fried green tomatoes!
  • Heirloom Tomatoes

    • How to store: These are harvested ripe & are highly perishable—you should eat them soon (like, the day you get them or the next day!). Do not put your tomatoes in the fridge! Store upside down on the counter. Note that some heirlooms are green varieties & are green when ripe. You can tell that they’re ripe by how they feel (if they’re tender to the touch, they’re ripe. If they’re firm, they are actually green, unripe tomatoes).
  • Roma and/or Shady Lady Tomatoes

  • How to store: These are the slightly heartier slicing/saucing tomatoes. Store on counter (never in fridge!). Eat soon. Will last longer than heirlooms. Our members in the past have asked us to provide tomatoes that will keep longer, so we’re trying!
