Roberto and Ricardo or Arturo have a weekly ritual of taking the finger weeder out onto the farm and working any crop they can find with it. This tool has done a wonderful job of cutting down on the hand hoeing we have to do.
this years sweet potato crop is about the worst we have ever had. It will be late and there are patches of missing plants. That said we are very accustomed to fabulous crops so we have to accept sometimes they will not always be good. The wind was blowing hard the day before the cuttings were taken in the nursery near Turlock. After we planted there was a few too many days of wind. All this despite copious amounts of water mean the crops started off slowly and some plants died.
I do expect to have a reasonable crop, we will do our very best.
