I am very happy with the strawberry crop this year. We planted two weeks earlier in August last year and we used a woven plastic mulch. Both these things seem to have made a big difference.
Members and Alumni if you have not signed up for one of our Strawberry days please do it now as there are only just a few spaces left. Jose will be leading a farm tour in Spanish on Saturday May 21st. This will be a great opportunity to speak with Jose who leads the crew and has worked on the farm since the late 90's. There will be people to translate so do not worry if you do not speak Spanish.
This morning we are pick the ripest Seascape berries for St Bentoit Yogurt. The stems are removed in the field which slows picking but makes it much easier in the kitchen.
