DSCF1710.JPG When we plant tomatoes with the goal of harvesting them in October we always run the risk that heavy rain could destroy them.

Last weeks rain did not do that but it did make the dirty and marked them so they are pretty ugly in your box this week. With very little sun they did not ripen evenly or well so a little time on the window sill would not hurt them. Please remember that it is October so they will not taste like August beauties. We have a heavy crop in the field so we have to hope for sunny dry weather.

Talking of rain the spinach absolutely loves it. The crop has germinated wonderfully in the field. We sowed two varieties; Crocodile and Pelican. the former will do better if it turns hot and the latter if it stay rainy and cool Its called hedging your bets.
