In May we planted five bean varieties from UC Davis professor Steve Temple. Steve is conducting an experiment with one of his graduate student Ann Prentiss. They are looking at crops farms like ours can grow to put in our boxes in the winter. Dry beans are any easy crop to grow and with the renewed interest beans they are a logical choice.
There is some contention about the selection of the varieties. U C Davis is not know for choosing varieties on how good they taste. I will reserve judgment until the beans are cleaned and we have a chance to taste them in the Eatwell Farm Test Kitchen.
