Distilling LavenderGrowing lavender is a hobby that over the year has gotten a little out of control but we have run with it. We now grow Rose geranium, lemon Verbena, Lemon Balm and a few other botanicals which we have distilled along with the lavender for organic cosmetic companies. We are in the process of harvesting a large order of lavender for one such company. The lavender is harvested and taken to Sonomaroma near Sonoma. Wally and his son Gabe turn the flowers into essential oil and hydrosol. Hydrosol is the essential oil laden water that is driven off the flowers by the steam injected into the still. The oil and fully saturated ( with essential oil) water is separated.You can buy thes and other products from us at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market in San Francisco on Saturdays or online.
