Agustin is working today and Christmas day taking care of the chickens. They do not take a break, especially from eating.
The girls in the picture are a couple of months old and finally get to go outside. We limit their space to protect them from Hawks. They can swoop down pick up a chick if we give the Hawks enough room. Once the chicks get a little bigger they will be too big for the hawks to get a grip on so they will be safe to roam further. They are eating a special organic feed for growing chicks, yesterday they had sprouted wheat as an afternoon snack.
These chicks will start laying in late March.
Wishing you all very happy holidays from all our families on the farm.... Nigel
