Today we planted Grosso and Super Lavender. Both varieties are from France. They produce long stems and to keep the stems long we need to replant every five years or so. These plants came from a Nursery in Fresno. They will have a few stems to harvest next year but will not be fully grown until the summer of 2013.

We will irrigate the crop with sprinklers while the plants are small so that there are no drip lines in the way of our weed cultivations with the tractor. Next year we will lay drip tubes along side the plants.

Our lavender harvest runs for three weeks in June. We dry most of the crop, send some for distillation and sell the rest fresh at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market in San Francisco. For more in check out our lavender site
