Seeds need water to germinate, it is their trigger to say ‘hey, lets grow’.
Ricardo spends all his time making sure that each crop gets what it needs. At this time of the year our water comes from the irrigation canal that is fed with stored rainwater from Lake Berryessa. Around the 15th of October the canal will be turned off for the year. We will then switch over to using our own well. The well can produce more than 1,000 gallons per minute, we have a pump in it that produces around 300 gallons as that is all we need during the winter for the farm and the pack house use.
