A couple of weeks ago Roberto planted the first pasture seeds for next year. We try to get them in early as it is important to be able to move the chickens to strong fresh pasture in the spring. The seed is a mix of clovers and ryegrass, a general purpose cattle mix from a seed house in Woodland.
We sow the seed into beds made as if we were planting vegetables. We use the same seeder planting 12 rows to a bed. Ricardo will irrigate these beds overnight to give them a good deep soaking after planting.
