We are lucky to have great neighbors, Magnum Seeds. We share equipment and help each other in any way we can. Ken specializes in peppers and cucumbers and lucky for us he likes to give us seed. He says that it is good for him to test his varieties in the riggers of an organic operation with no protective chemicals around the seed. The cucumbers we grow are from his seed and are sold widely in the Middle East. I had a member last year saying that her husband was very excited to have cucumbers that tasted just like home. They were, except that his home variety in Iran was developed here in Dixon by Ken. When the seed business is more and more controlled by large corporations it is very nice to have a local connection to a small, non GMO seed company. We plan to expand what we grow with their seed over the coming year.
